Serve on an Unidos en Cristo Team

Serving on an Unidos en Cristo (UEC) Team is just one way of passing on the gift of UEC. If you have already attended UEC or another cursillo-type weekend, you can serve on a UEC Team. Many say that their Team experience was just as, if not more, transforming than their Weekend experience. The Team experience is hard work, but it is fun and friendships are always made.

What is a UEC Team?

UEC Teams are the people behind the scenes working alongside of God to make each UEC Weekend a gift of God's grace to the Weekenders:

The Leadership Team consists of the Rector/a, Assistant Rector/as, Spiritual Directors, Musicians and the Rector/as and Assistant Rector/as of each Support Team. In order to serve on the Leadership Team, a pre-requisite is to serve on one of the other teams first.

The Rollo Room Team consists of the Table Leaders and Rollistas. These people serve in the Rollo Room and come in the most direct contact with the Weekenders.

The Palanca Team prays for the Weekenders, the other Team members, the Rollistas, the host church, and more. They are in charge of the Palanca Chapel which is set up in the church at each weekend for members of the 4th Day Community to come and pray, as well. The Palanca Team gifts the Stations of the Cross to the Weekenders.

The Kitchen Team plans and cooks all of the meals for the weekend. The Kitchen Team provides the Chicken, who helps the Weekenders relax and enjoy the weekend, leaving worldly cares outside. The Kitchen Team gifts the Agape Dinner Meal to the Weekenders.

The 4th Day Team is responsible of the layout and set up of the rooms in the host church for the weekend. They also manage the 4th Day Center, set up for members of the 4th Day Community to come to the church throuhout the weekend to drop off Palanca, write personal Palanca notes and see how the weekend is going. The 4th Day Team gifts the set up of the Agape Dinner to the Weekenders.

What is the time commitment when serving on a UEC Team?

Of course, you will be expected to be present at the church for the entire UEC Weekend, including sleeping at the church ... just as you did as a Weekender.

In addition, there will be 5-6 Team meetings held within the 3 months prior to the UEC Weekend. One of these Team meetings is often an overnight meeting lasting from an evening on one day through the afternoon of the next day. Team members sleep at the church for this meeting and have the opportunity to 'practice' as a team in the setting in which they will be working.

The other Team meetings are generally held in the evening on a week night.

A good goal is to commit to be at ALL Team Meetings. This will assure that you do not miss any important information and that you have a chance to get to know your teammates well.
