"Let us not
give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us
encourage one another." (Hebrews 10:25)
Special
Palanca has been requested! Can you help?
We
need help transporting our UEC Trailers to and from host churches.
If you have a one-ton truck equipped with electric brakes, and are occasionally
available to pull a trailer from or to the metro storage location (ideal
transfer times, minimizing on-site inconveniences for host churches, are
the Wednesday evening or Thursday morning preceding the men's weekend
and the Sunday night or Monday following the women's weekend), please
contact Brian LaLuzerne, UEC Supplies Coordinator, laluzerne@UnidosenCristo.com
or 612-590-6803, to add your name to a list of those who are
able and willing with the special palanca request.
Long
Range Planning
Task Force Report
Thanks
to the concentrated/dedicated 8-month efforts of Wendy Anzelmo, Glen Karlgaard,
Janice Knight, John Maddio, Kerry Manthei, Carleton Peterson, Scott Stamp,
and Don Draayer, chair. And, thanks to the 4th Day Community
who responded to the telephone surveys to share your helpful observations.
This Task Force
goal was to assess ministry strengths and propose a strategic renewal
plan for the next five years.
Overall, UEC
weekends are viewed positively and focused to revive, sustain
and augment Christian spiritual commitment in Christian Community. Recommendations
aim at proposals to improve its potential. For highlights of the report
which the Council will consider in detail, vote on, then prioritize and
make plans to implement … find out how can you help?

Lost and Found
If you have lost something on a UEC Weekend or ended up bringing home
something that you discovered was not yours, please check with the Fourth
Day Rector of your most recent weekend or in the Fourth Day Center during
the following weekend. The Fourth Day Team tries to return anything that
is left IF it is clearly marked; however, many items have no identifying
information.
Unidos
en Cristo (formerly United Cursillo) of Minnesota - Council Guidelines
The following is a summary of some of the Council Guidelines:
- The Unidos en Cristo Council of Minnesota is governed by volunteers
nominated to the Council and elected by the existing Council membership.
This consists of 14 layperson's and 3 clergy. The council has established
the following guidelines:
- Unidos en Cristo is an ecumenical program. Members of any church in
Minnesota are eligible to participate provided that a pastor from that
church attends a weekend first.
- The first attending pastor is required to have one lay couple from
that church attend at the same time for the purpose of establishing
community.
- Unidos en Cristo is open to both single and married people. However,
both husband and wife must attend the same pair of weekends. Weekends
fill quickly.
- Clergy from churches, which have not participated in the past, are
given preference in the application selection.
- Effective June 2002 weekend application fees are $30.00 per person.
- The weekends are operated in pairs. Men attend the first weekend and
women attend one week later. Both weekends are held at the same site.
- Weekends are held in a host church where all of the participants and
Unidos en Cristo team members live together as a community.
- The weekends begin at 7:30pm on Thursday and end at approximately
8:00pm on Sunday. Complete attendance is required for the entire weekend.
- Each weekend is presented by a team, which has gathered and trained
together for that weekend only. The same format and time schedule is
followed for each weekend.
- Once a church has participated it can continue to send both lay and
clergy to weekends. These applications will be processed through an
allocation system.
- A person must be over 21 years old to attend a Unidos en Cristo weekend.
- Selection of Rector and Rectora is the responsibility of the Council.
- Selection of dates and locations of Unidos en Cristo weekends is the
responsibility of the Council.
